San Diego County is home to a diverse and growing number of healthcare and biotech companies. Reno is currently constructing the Corporate Headquarters Facility project for ResMed, Inc., the leading developer and manufacturer of products for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-disordered breathing. The initial phase, which is a 500,000-sf, six-story building, including a parking structure, is designed to accommodate the company’s long-term growth. Another project underway is the six-story, 135,000-sf Scripps Healthcare tenant improvement project in Ranch Bernardo, scheduled for completion in August 2008. This high-tech facility will contain a digital imaging center and outpatient care facilities.

Reno began construction in November 2007 on a new five-story, 75,000-sf shell and warm core for Arena Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company in San Diego, with work including a central plant for the HVAC systems, and all the site and landscape work associated with the construction. Reno is also in the construction phase of the BioMed Realty complex: a four-story facility with 85,000-sf of lab and office space with a 65,000-sf parking area. Both the Arena Pharmaceuticals building and the BioMed structures are in line for LEED certification through sustainable green construction and material use by the Reno Contracting team.

Reno will add these projects to their impressive resume in the biotech and healthcare fields. Some of the company’s completed projects include the Micromet Inc. Headquarters (formerly CancerVax) in Carlsbad, the Verenium Corporate Headquarters (Formerly Diversa) in San Diego, as well as the state-of-the-art facilities for Invitrogen, New Biotics and Pyxis. Reno’s tenant improvements at Veralliance at Carroll Road created new lab and office space for two separate biotech companies: Bioverdant and Pharmatek.
